ASSET VEHICLE RESTORATION
PROJECT
The ASSET (Aerothermodynamic Elastic
Structural Systems Environmental Test) research glide vehicle was transferred to
the Air Force Space and Missile Museum in 1965 and was placed on exhibit in the
"Rocket Garden".
The Asset vehicle remained on display until
it was removed for restoration in September 2005. The contract for the
restoration project was awarded to Keith Davidson of AirCorr Inc., Melbourne,
Florida. After refurbishment was completed at an off-site facility, the
capsule was returned to Cape Canaveral AFS on 20 February 2006.
